STILLE, Paul Max 1908 - 2001

NASHUA - Paul Max Stille, 92, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19 at St. John's UCC/Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua with Pastor David McBride officiating. Music was provided by Mary Jo Stille as organist accompanying the congregation singing "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond The Sunset".

Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Nashua with Ron Stille, Troy Stille, Duane Miller, Vern Simon, Dick Walther and Eugene Walther serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Alvin Junker and Art Kohls.

Paul was born April 4, 1908 in Butler County, the son of Bill and Mary (Gaoelmann) Stille. He attended Fremont #8 Butler County country school and graduated from Greene High School in 1927. He attended Gates Business College, Waterloo in 1929. He was united in marriage to Helen Hauser on Jan. 16, 1944 at St. John's United Church of Christ/Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua. Paul farmed for 60 years, retiring in 1995. He was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church . of Christ/ Pleasant Hill and served as an elder and a member of the consistory. He enjoyed reading, fishing in Canada and was a bie Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; five children, LaVern (Carol) Stille, Muscatine; Donald Stille, Nashua; Max Stille, Portland, OR, Dan Stille, Nashua and Sharon (Darrel) Peterson, Kennewick, WA and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Rudolf and Arthur and one sister, Bertha.
