Services were held for Edith May Starry, 96, of Mclntire and Riceville, Iowa area on Tuesday, September 4, at the Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota with burial in Wayne Cemetery, Mclntire, Iowa. The Rev. Mike Carry officiated the services.

Edith died on Saturday, September 1 at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minnesota, where she had resided for about 10 months.

She was born June 27, 1905 in Crawfordville, Iowa to William Harvey VanSyoc and Sarah Emma Woodruff. She was baptized in the Riceville Methodist Church and attended Riceville area schools. On December 8, 1923 she was united in marriage to Myron Starry in Yorkville, Illinois and together they farmed and later ran the Mclntire Shopping Center through the 60’s. She was a member of the Jolly Dozen, joining in 1929. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and the Mclntire Methodist Church. She loved to cook, and enjoyed writing letters, working on scrapbooks and quilting.

She is survived by daughters Maxine (Mrs. Floyd) DeVries of Austin, Minnesota, Bernice (Mrs. Clyde) Walker of Charles City, Iowa and Mary (Mrs. Roger) Hultman of Austin, Minnesota, sons; Robert and wife Marlys Starry of Mclntire, Iowa, Dennis and wife Theresa Starry of Austin, Minnesota and Donald and wife Beverlee Starry of Austin, Minnesota, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, three brothers Sam, John and Orville and one sister, Marie. -
