NEW HAMPTON -    ---Alexander Shea Thomas Speltz, 14, New Hampton, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 from injuries sustained in a hunting accident.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton) with Rev. Carl Schmitt presiding. The pall will be placed on the casket by his parents and two brothers. Lector will be his uncle, Paul Krueger. The offertory gifts are to be presented by Liz Denner, Mel and Rita Speltz, Gina and Cheryl Krueger, Laura Riha, Alison Speltz and Melissa Ganson.

Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery with Dennis Pagel, Ken Tenge, Victor Baltes, Mike Tenge, Terry Baltes, Dave Speltz, Ron Speltz and Mike O' Brien serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was from 3-9 Thursday, April 5 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 7 p.m. Parish Scripture Service and a 7:30 p.m. video memorial tribute.

Alexander was born June 3, 1986 in New Hampton, the son of Tom and Deb (Kamrath) Speltz. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. He was a member of the 8th grade class at New Hampton community School, where he was an honor student. Alex was quarterback of the football team, point guard on the basketball team, ran track and played baseball. He played saxophone, sang in mixed choir, was a student council representative, received the presidential physical fitness award and drama awards. ‘He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, travel, water-skiing, boating on the Mississippi River and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his parents, Tom and Deb Speltz, few Hampton; two brothers, Jason Speltz, Iowa City and Ryan Speltz, a student at New Hampton High School; maternal grandparents, Bob and June Kamrath, New Hampton; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Vonnie Speltz, New Hampton; maternal great-randmothers, Sylvia inkemeyer, New Hampton and Hazel Breischof, Sioux City.
