SCOLES, Lois C.nee BIERSCHENK 1921 - 2001

NASHUA - Lois C. Scoles, 79, Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton and formerly of Nashua, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2001 at the Mercy Medical Hospital in Clinton of natural causes.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7 at St. John's United Church of Christ/Pleasant Hill, rural j Nashua. (

Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, April 6 from 4-8 p.m. at Cnenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Lois was born May 2, 1921 at rural Vinton, the daughter of William and Martha (Schroeder) Bierschenk. She attended rural schools in Riverton Township and graduated from Nashua High School in 1939 with a Normal Teaching Certificate. Lois taught rural schools in Butler ana Chickasaw Counties. On Dec. 12, 1942, she married Harry S. Scoles. She was active in Majels church group, Nashua Women's Club, R.E.S.T. Club and was a member of the Congregational Church in Nashua. She enjoyed reading, sewing and being with her family.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Donn Sensor, Clinton; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy Berka, Cedar Rapids ana Marian Borg, Tucson, AZ; a brother, Roy Bierschenk, Nashua; many nieces and nephews.
