Ethel Pauline Schrode died February 2, 2001 at a nursing home in Santa Barbara, Cal. of natural causes.

She was born March 19, 1906 at Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Alice Shrode. She graduated from Riceville High School in 1923 and attended the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. She then worked ten years at the Children's Home near Milwaukee, Wise. Later she was a nurse for the students at Davis, Cal. and then as a head nurse at Santa Barbara, Cal.

She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Graff of Osage, Iowa; two brothers, Milton of Commerce City, Col. and Donald of Aurora, Col.; two nieces and six nephews. Her body was cremated and a memorial service will be held later in Riceville.
