IONIA — Lois Roes, 64, of Ionia, died Wednesday, July 11 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN after a short illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia with Msgr. Stanley Hayek officiating. Jane Karels was the organist and accompanied the St. Boniface Church Choir singing "On This Day O Beautiful Mother," "On Eagles Wings," "How Great Thou Art," "Whispering Hope" and "O Danny Boy.' Rita Rausch was the lector. Gift bearers were Charles and Teresa Wehling. Mass servers were Nathan and Megan Brown. Lois' husband ana children placed the pall.

Burial was in the church cemetery with Mike Testroet, Steve Smith, Mark Testroet, Paul Testroet, Jeff Smith, Brian Clark, and Doue Thronburg serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Jim Bottema, Eric Testroet, David Testroet, Dan Testroet, Doug Testroet, Greg Testroet, and Dave Testroet.

Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service.

Lois Jean Roes was born September 23, 1936, at Ionia, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Brown) Testroet. She graduated from St. Boniface Catholic School in Ionia. After her schooling she worked in Milwaukee, WI and was a bank teller in Nashua and Ionia. She also worked as a grocery clerk. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Roes on April 4, 1964 in Hemingford, NE. After their marriage the couple resided in Nebraska for a short time before moving back to Ionia, where they were currently residing. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, where she sang in the choir for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed quilting, cross-word puzzles, games and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence of Ionia, two sons Tom, Nevada, and Dan (Jody) of Onalaska, WI; two sisters, Norita Clark, Charles City, and Janice (Jack) Smith, Ankeny; three brothers, Vincent (Alice) Testroet, Hales Corners, WI, Thomas (LaVonne) Testroet, Chicago, IL, and Jim Testroet, Ionia; a sister-in-law Alice (Rigatti) Testroet; two grandchildren Trevor and Collin; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Hubert and Leon Testroet; one sister, Mary Eickenberry; three sisters-in-law, Madonna (Jenn) Testroet, Betty (Strong) Testroet, and Jane (Cleveland) Testroet.
