OXFORD - Lois O'Hol-learn, 85, formerly of New Hampton, died Friday, March 30, 2001 at her home of natural causes.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, April 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton with Reverend Carl Schmitt officiating. Ann Bennett was the organist and accompanied the St. Joseph Resurrection Choir singing "On Eagle's Wings", "Be Not Afraid", "Gather Us Together" and "How Great Thou Art". Mike Carlin was the cantor. Gift bearers were Lois' grandchildren and her daughters placed the pall. Lectors were Ann Kellner and Craig Kotowske.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton with Craig Kotowske, Jim Kellner, John O'Byrne, Paul Thompson, Rich Reynolds and Jerry Heit serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Seth Kotowske, Caleb Reynolds and Aaron Smith.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 1 at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton where there was a 4:30 p.m. rosary and 7:30 p.m. scripture service. There was also visitation an hour prior to services at the church. Lois was born June 7,1915, in Lawler, the daughter of Mike and Theresa (Rooney) O'Byme. After graduating from Lawler High School, she went on to attend Clarke College, Dubuque, where she earned her Teacher's Certificate. She was united in marriage to William O'Hol-learn at Mt. Carmel Church, Lawler on June 7, 1938. After her marriage, she taught in rural schools and New Hampton Community Schools for 22 years, retiring in 1980. She moved to Cedar Rapids in December of 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou (Louis) Kellner, Cedar Rapids and Kay (James) Kotowske, Oxford; seven grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren and a sister, Drleen Hohman, Lincoln, NE. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her, husband, William, in 1957; three brothers, Virgil, Frank and Merle O'Byrne; five sisters, Helen O'Byrne, Cleo Stratton, Sister Lucian, Velma Wilson and Margaret Cooney.
