NEW HAMPTON - Floyd "Doc" Munson, 95, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2001 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation center of natural causes.

Funeral services will 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Rev. David Bergstrom and Rev. Kevin Frey officiating. Music for the service will be provided by Carol Gorman as organist.

Interment will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery with John Gordon, John A. Roberson, Clair Munson, Larry Pitzenberger, Laverne Cuts-forth and Gene Thompson as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Alan Munson.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at the Larkm-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton and. an hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Floyd Gerhart Munson was born Nov. 12, 1905, the son of Adolph and Martha (Attleson) Munson, at their home northwest of Lawler. He was baptized and confirmed at the Jerico Lutheran Church. He received his education in rural elementary schools in Chickasaw County and graduated from Lawler High School. He attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, where he received his teaching certificate. He taught school for two years. He married Tomena Otteson on Oct. 12,1937 in the Crane Creek Lutheran Church. The couple farmed near Lawler until 1972 when they moved to New Hampton.

Floyd had served on various church boards at the Crane Creek Lutheran Church including longtime president of the cemetery board and as treasurer of the church. He was a founder and member of the Jacksonville Historian Club and Munson Park Museum. He served as Jacksonville Township Clerk and was President of the District #12 School Board for 20 years. Floyd also served as an enumerator for the county centennial census. Floyd enjoyed playing cards and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Tomena; two sisters, Ada Munson and Alice Thompson, both of New Hampton and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three broth-, ers, Lester,* Arthur and Merle Munson and a sister, Edith Roberson.
