FREDERICKSBURG -- Charles L. McBride, 80, Fredericksburg died Feb. 5, 2001 at the Ocala Medical Center, Ocala, FL.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 15 at Hillcrest Brethren Church, Fredericksburg.

Charles LaVerne McBride was born Jan. 20, 1921 in Finchford, the son of Charles Wesley and Alta (Heckman) McBride. He graduated from Finchford High School in 1938. On Jan. 4, 1942, he married Carol Briden at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple were dairy and hog farmers in the Sumner and Fredericksburg areas until retirement in the mid 1970s. Charles was active in the Pork Producers Association and Chickasaw Farm Bureau where he served as president for three years. He was an active member of the Fredericksburg Church of the Brethren and later the Hillcrest Baptist Brethren Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; a daughter, Donna (Larry) Elliott, Mt. Morris, IL; a son, Charles D. (Ruby), Terrell, TX; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
