NEW HAMPTON ~ Dorothy Laures, 87, New Hampton, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at the New Hampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton with Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating. Sr. Lorraine Loecher will be organist and accompany the St. Joseph Resurrection Choir singing "Here I Am, Lord", "Prayer of St. Francis", "On Eagle’s Wings" and "Gifts of Finest Wheat". Rose Baltes will be cantor. Lectors will be Joanne Putz and Craig Laures. Dorothy's children will place the pall. Gift bearers will be Joe and John Clarine. Eucharistic ministers will be Mary Jo Clarine and Stan and Virginia Laures.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton with Joe and John Clarine, Craig Laures, Chuck Offerman, Stan Laures and Joe Offerman serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 4 p m. combined Rosary Society and CD of A Rosary and 6:15 p.m. Scripture Service. Visitation will also be an hour prior to services at the church.

 

Dorothy Ann Laures was born July 23, 1913 at Alta Vista, the daughter of John and Rose (Duster) Offerman. She attended St. William's Catholic School in Alta Vista. On Aug. 10, 1942, Dorothy was united in marriage with Joseph Laures at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Alta Vista. The couple farmed for over 40 years in the Alta Vista area before retiring and moving to New Hampton. She was a member of bt. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Joan of Arc No. 388. Dorothy was also very active in the Rosary Society at church.

Surviving are a son, Loras, Waterloo; a daughter, Rose (Barry) Brinkmeier, Lodi, WI; a grandson, Craig Laures, St. Louis, MO; a granddaughter, Kristi (Wade) Romberg, Portage, WI.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Joseph on March 31, 2000; four brotners, Reynold, Cletus, Aloysius and Edmund Offerman.
