LANTOW, Robert J. 1920 - 2001

NASHUA - Robert J. Lantow, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001 at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Aug. 21 at St. John Lutheran Church, Nashua with Pastors David P. Kramer and Joann K. Kramer officiating. Music will be provided by Travis Beck as pianist.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua. Casket bearers will be Rachael Lind, Linda Lantow, Adam i Marth, Bill Lantow, Steve Lantow, Allen Lantow, Jason Marth, Dan Lantow, Lisa Lantow, Annette Lantow, Dean . Lantow and Megan Lantow.

Bob was born Jan. 8, 1920 in Sumner, the son of Herman and Lena (Etter) Lantow. He moved east of Nashua with his family where he attended rural country schools. Bob was united in marriage to Elaine A. Ferch at the Lutheran Parsonage, Nashua on May 7, 1944. They lived on several farms east of Nashua before buying their farm in Bradford Township. Bob retired in 1985 and moved to Nashua, but continued to go out to the farm to help. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Big Four Fair Board, serving as director of the horse barns. Bob loved horses and always had draft horses which he would use in his farming operations. He also enjoyed reading and visiting with friends.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; four sons, Jim (Sandy) Ionia, Charles (Lois), Wayne (Sandra) and Lynn (Deanne), all of Nashua; a daughter Wanda (Ken) Marth, Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Lantow, Fredericksburg; three sisters, Norma Ferguson, New Hampton, Maxine Bennor and Viola Sullivan, both of Nashua.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a granddaughter, Suzanne Lantow.
