HUGHES, Everett R. 1938 - 2001

Funeral services for Everett Hughes of Riceville were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. The Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville. Pallbearers were: Ed Ackerman, Dan Hughes, Ron Mayer, Ron Charlson, Albert Winkles, and Harlan Goltz. Honorary pallbearers were: Bud Kulow, Bill Eastman, John Koenigs and Greg Conger. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Everett, 62, died Sunday, March 18, 2001 in Austin, MN after suffering a heart attack.

Everett Raymond Hughes was born June 28, 1938 at Riceville, the son of Norbert and Theresa (Wettstein) Hughes. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mel’s Catholic Church in Mclntire and graduated from the Mclntire High School.

In 1959, he married Jo Ann Francis at St. Patrick’s Church in LeRoy, MN. They set up farming in the Mclntire area. Everett started raising pure bred hogs and became a breeder of Poland China hogs. Everett went into trucking, which is what he was doing at the present time.

Survivors include two daughters: Lori Hall pf Hayfield, MN apd Debbie Hughes of Mclntire; one son: Dan of Fremont; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister: Elaine Freerksen of LeRoy, MN.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents.    /
