HAYES, Theodore R. 1918 - 2001

IONIA — Theodore R. Hayes, 83, Ionia, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001 at the New Hampton Care Center, New Hampton of natural causes. His body was cremated.

Graveside services will be at a later date in Imhoff Cemetery, Danvers, IL.

Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton is in charge of arrangements.

Theodore Roosevelt Hayes was born June 19, 1918 at Tazewell, IL, the son of George and Rachael (Winston) Hayes. He attended school near his home. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II from July 28, 1942 until his honorable discharge on Oct. 29, 1945. After returning from the service he lived in Deer Creek, IL, where he was a welder for the Caterpillar Corp. for 30 years. He was united in marriage to Thelma (Dugan) on Nov. 4, 1972 in Peoria, IL. The couple resided in Deer Creek until nis retirement in 1974. The couple moved to Ionia in 1976. He was a former member of American Legion Post #1275 of Marquette Heights, IL in Tazewell County and served as Commander in 1966,1969 and 1972.

Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Bennett, Pekin, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Thelma and several brothers and sisters.
