NEW HAMPTON ~ Joanne Brannon, 65, New Hampton, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 at her home of natural causes.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton with Rev. Carl Schmitt, Rev. Phil Schmitt and Rev. John Harpel officiating. Sr. Lorraine Loecner was organist, accompanying the cantor, Bob Martin and the St. Joseph Resurrection Choir. Hymn selections included "On Eagle's Wings", "Prayer of St. Francis", "Blest Are They" and "How Great Thou Art". Lectors were Steve Stanton and Dan Conlon. Donna Schwickerath, Mary Johnson and Larry Schmitt presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic ministers were John Kramer and Kathleen Laures. Mass servers were Brittney Trewin and Paula Shekleton.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton, with Melvin Heit, Andy Scnmitt, Don Casperson, Vincent Lensing, David Kramer, John Gorman, Kenneth Kirsch and Lucian Schmitt serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. combined Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Rosary Society Rosary and a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service, and also an hour prior to services at the church.

Joanne Ileen Brannon was bom March 10,1936 at Jesup, the daughter of Lorence and Anna (Krempges) Schmitt. She attended school at St. Mary’s in Roseville, Immaculate Conception Elementary in Charles City and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, also in Charles City. She furthered her educational UNI and Upper Iowa, On May 5, 1962, she was united in marriage with Clinton Brannon at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. The couple farmed north of New Hampton all their married life. Joanne taught school at Immaculate Conception in Charles City, Greene, St. Mary's in New Hampton and Turkey Valley. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Joan of Arc #388, Rosary Society, Porkettes and the Happy Homemakers Club.

Surviving are her husband, Clinton; two daughters, Karla (Gary) Gossling, Waucoma, Marcia (Tony) Howe, New Hampton; two sons, Lauren and James, both of New Hampton; two grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Donald) Schwickerath, New Hampton, Mary (DeBlonde) Johnson, Owatonna, MN; one brother, Lawrence Jr. (Nancy) Schmitt, Charles City.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a. brother, Ronald .Schmitt; sister Janice Stanton.
