ASHCROFT, Edna nee RAUSCH 1916 - 2001

NASHUA - Edna (Rausch) Ashcroft, 84, formerly of Nashua, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 at Shell Rock Healthcare Center, Shell Rock after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home, Nashua.

Burial was in Richland Cemetery, rural Ionia.

Visitation was from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Edna Ashcroft was born Dec. 2, 1916 in Nashua, the daughter of Edwin and Laura (Mell-man) Rausch. She attended rural schools in New Hampton and Williamstown and nigh school in Waterloo. She was united in marriage to Charles Ashcroft in 1939, and they moved to Beloit, WI. The couple had no children and later divorced. Edna then moved to New Orleans where she worked as a medical assistant for Southern Baptist Hospital until retiring in 1987. In 1990 she moved to Waverly, where she lived for nine years. She then moved to Shell Rock. Edna was a member of the Medical Assistants Association.

Survivors include one brother, Harold (Holly) Rausch, Nashua.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Rausch; three sisters, Ruth Nily, Effie Rausch and Elaine Rausch and a half-sister,t Lu Erwin.
