Ennis R. Koch, 88Memorial services were hefd at First Presbyterian Church in LeRoy Friday, May 19 for Ennis R. Koch, 88, who died Tuesday, May 16, 2000 at the Stewartville Care Center where he had resided since January. The Rev. Steve Elderbrock officiated at the 2 p.m. services. Interment will be in the Benson Cemetery at Whitten, Iowa at a later date, Mr. Koch was born July 10, 1911 in Beaman, Iowa. He attended country schools through the eighth grade and married Thelma Norris in Kansas City, Missouri, Dec. 1, 1931. They moved to the LeRoy area in 1951 where they farmed. They operated the LeRoy Bowl for seven years, retiring in 1977. The couple had four children and also raised and cared for many foster children.His farm and family were very important to him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a great story teller. From 1989 to 1998 they lived in Arizona. Survivors include his wife, Thelma, Stewartville Care Center; a son Richard and wife Bertha, LeRoy, and Camp Lacupolis, Minn., and a daughter, JoAnn and husband Kenneth (Hamlin) Mulch of Sutter, Illinois and Mesa, Arizona. Also seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, Henrietta Wiseman, Conrad, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Raymond; a daughter, Marlys; three brothers and four sisters. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
