George J. Jacobs, 72ST. LUCAS -- George J. Jacobs, 72, St. Lucas, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI following a short illness. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas, with Rev. Marvin Salz officiating. Lorraine Kuennen was organist, accompanying the St. Luke's Choir. Mass servers were Clarence Kuennen and DeVere Manderfield. Virginia Mander-field was lector, Victor and Mary Croatt presented the Offertory gifts and Nick Winter was usher. Interment was in St. Luke's Cemetery, with Bill Croatt, Ron Kruse, Marvin Kriener, Lenny Nolte, Jamie Croatt and Kevin Luzum as casket bearers. George John Jacobs was born March 14, 1928 to Frank and Frances (Kruse) Jacobs on the family farm near Fort Atkinson. He attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas. George farmed the family farm ana worked for Paul Kuhn Implement for many years. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. He enjoyed playing cards. Survivors include his brother, Joe (Fern) Jacobs, Charles City; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, Victor and Mary Croatt, Waucoma. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Dorothy Jacobs; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Jimmy Shindelar. Arrangements were handled by Cnekal Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson.
