Gene Gordon Henkle, 60LAS VEGAS, NV- Gene Gordon Henkle, 60, Las Vegas, NV, and formerly of Waverly, died Saturday, July 22 at his home from complications of Diabetes. There were no services or visitation. Gene's body has been cremated. Private family burial of his cremains will be held at a later date in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Gene was born on Oct. 23, 1939 in Waverly, the son of George and Laura (Bye) Henkle. In 1943 the family moved to Readlyn, where Gene attended school and graduated from high school in 1959. He worked for the family hatchery business until going into the U.S. Army in 1962. He was manager for Henry's fast food business in Waterloo for many years. He left there for a managers position with All American Burger fast food restaurant in Las Vegas, NV. He was most recently employed at Imperial Palace in Las Vegas, before becoming disabled. Survivors include his mother, Laura Henkle, Shell Rock; four brothers, Howard Henkle, New Hampton; Robert and Jerry Henkle, Waverly; James Henkle, Long Beach, CA; two sisters, Pearl Oeltjenbruns, Claremont, MN and Darlyce Davidson, Waverly. Preceding him in death were his father, George Henkle on Oct. 12,1985 and a brother in infancy.
