Mary Hawn, 81GRUNDY CENTER — Oletha Mary Hawn, 81, died on Thursday, Jan. 13 at the Cedar Falls Western Home of natural causes. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 17 at the United Methodist Church, Grundy Center. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. Survivors include a son, Jerry Ball, Waterloo; a daughter, Jolene Ball, Waterloo; three stepsons, Philip Hawn and Luveme Hawn, Grundy Center and Douglas Hawn, Easley, SC; one grandson; five step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale leirick and John Meirick, both of Alta Vista; and two sisters, Katherine Recker, Alta Vista and Berneda Sherwood, Corpus Christie, TX. Preceding her in death were her husband, Burgess Hawn, in 1994; a daughter, Joyce; two brothers, Bernard and Lyle Meirick; and a sister, Marcella Jacobsen. A memorial fund will be established. Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
