| M.B. Cochran pg 119 & 120, mention Of Davenport. Elected treasurer at the 18th annual meeting of the Iowa State Medical Society at Des Moines, February 5, 1868. In his report to the Society, Cochran stated that as treasurer he had in his hands $231.50 belonging to the Society. |
| D.V. Cole pg 102, 112 & 146, mention Of Ft. Des Moines, Polk Co. He is not listed as a Charter member, but was present at the first meeting of the Iowa State Medical Society, 1850. He was a Charter member of the Polk Co. Medical Society & elected as it's first vice-president in 1851. Dr. D.V. Cole was noted in the bio of A.G. Field to be practicing medicine in Des Moines in the mid-1860's |

| Dr. Collet pg 146, mention Of Hartford. Dr. Collet was a Charter member of the Polk Co. Medical Society when it was organized October 24, 1851. He served on a committee to report a code of ethics by which the society should be governed and another to report on "the causes that depress the profession in Polk County." |
| M.F. Collins pg 135, mention Of Keokuk. The physicians of Keokuk under the lead of Dr. John F. Sanford, met at Dr. Bond's office October 3, 1850, to form the first local medical society in Iowa. Dr. Collins was elected librarian at this meeting. It was the beginning of the Lee County Medical Society. |

| F.E. Cruttenden pg 4 & 95, mention and pg 182, full text Member of the 1882 faculty of the Iowa College of Physicians and Surgeons of Des Moines; professor of Diseases of the Throat & Nasal Passages. The Iowa
State Medical Reporter was organized in in 1883 with
Dr. F.E. Cruttenden of Des Moines as editor and
publisher. In the first or July number, 1883, the editor
makes the following appeal to the medical profession of
Iowa: "With this number our medical staff feel that
they are stepping forward with open hands, to every
regular practitioner in the State of Iowa, inviting a
cordial co-operation and asking for a personal interest
in the object, in the welfare, and in the columns of the Iowa
State Medical Reporter. Has the time come that we
need it? Will it receive nourishment and live? These
questions, touching the vitality of all new projects,
have cast their shadows on us." In the June number,
1884, the editor announces the end of the first volume in
an editorial not particularly encouraging. The financial
returns did not warrant an increase in size, but hopes
for something better in the future, and states:
"During the coming years, the Reporter will
be under the following management: editor and publisher,
F.E. Cruttenden of Des Moines; associate editorial staff,
C.M. Hobby, Iowa City; L.C. Swift, Des Moines; |
