Nate
Lewis I've "rescued" an old photograph of Nate LEWIS which was taken at the A. Kracaw Studio in Washington, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1860's or 1870's with Nate likely in his teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Nate and his family: Nathaniel Clabaugh LEWIS was b. 11 Jan 1849 in Washington Co., IA to parents William Blackstock LEWIS (b. 4 Sept 1806 in Garrard Co. KY-d. 20 Feb 1888 in Washington, IA) and Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane DONNELL (b. 7 Jul 1809 in Bourbon Co., KY-1894). Nate's parents were married in Indiana on 24 Nov 1828 and are said to have had 13 children. Their children included, Samuel Milton; Nancy Catherine or Katherine; Robert Porter; Thomas L.; James Harvey; Mary Ellen; Cassandra Jane; Elizabeth Emily; Lizzie E.; Thomas Luther; Nathaniel Clabaugh; John Nuton; and Josephine LEWIS all born between 1829 and 1851 in either Decatur, IN or Washington, IA. Nate died 8 Apr 1873 in Washington Co., IA and is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Washington, IA. These six siblings are buried in the same cemetery with Nate, Nancy Cathrine LEWIS VINCENT (1831-1908); Robert Porter LEWIS (1833-1924); Mary Ellen LEWIS MARSHALL (1838-1912); Casander Jane LEWIS (1840-1894); Thomas Luther LEWIS (1846-1937); and John Nuton LEWIS (1849-1908). Runser
(Runcer) Family Great-grandparents, Louis and Marie Runser. Louis and Marie came over from Alsace, now part of France,in 1892. Louis worked for the railroad, but don't know which one. They moved to Missouri in 1910. I've attached a photo that includes Louis on the far right and Marie in the middle holding their youngest, Gene, my grandfather. The other two children are Joseph and Mary, also Louis and Marie's. I'm looking for someone to identify the other three adults in the hope that they will somehow lead me to Louis and Marie's family in Europe. Submitted by: Chris Marshall |
