Poland's Grove - This settlement was located in NW Sec. 26-88-25 of
Independence Township. It was about a mile north of present day Kamrar.
It was named for William Poland who purchased the land in 1865. It had a
post office, but the records are incomplete as to who served as
postmaster or when the post office was started or was discontinued.
Poland's Grove appears on many maps dated from 1866 to 1875. In the
Andreas 1875 Atlas, the location of the post office is indicated. It
is thought that at one time the stagecoach from Lakin's Grove passed
through here on the way to Webster City.
