This is a record of the Zion Cemetery, translated from the Norwegian Records 1886. The cemetery at that time was known as Ladvig’s Cemetery, as it was Ladvig Lutheran Church that sponsored it.

On June 15, 1886 a group of pioneers called a meeting for the purpose of buying a cemetery plot. The following were present at this meeting:

The Southwest corner of section 10 (in Hamilton Township) was bought from Lars Hendrickson for the sum of $15.50, with the agreement that a fence be built around the cemetery. A wire fence was built the same year, 1886, at the cost of $13.00. Cost of Deed was $.75; a price of $4.40 was asked for each lot sold. The size of a lot was 16x20 feet.

This cemetery was dedicated and hallowed for use with a Song and Prayer by Pastor B. Mikkelsan, the 25^th of July 1886.

Later the name of the Ladvig Lutheran Church was changed to Zion Lutheran Church. On June 26^th, 1906, it was noted to also change the name of the cemetery to Zion. C. J. Mansen had the deed transferred.

May 1907 - Zion congregation built a new fence at a cost of $32.75; Expenses for cemetery upkeep was $3.90.

June 1962 - sold Lot #15 to Lester Pierce for $15.00; this was the last lot sold in the cemetery.
