Flight Officer John L. Carmichael


Flight officer John L. Carmichael, 29, of Guthrie County died in combat during the Allies' Pacific operations on Aug 29, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Carmichael, born Oct. 15 had enlisted in the Army Air Forces. He served in the 425th Bomber Squadron, 308 Bomber Group, Heavy. He was killed in action.

Burial: Carmichael is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is in Plot C, Grave 580.
