Sgt. John W. Anderson, son of the late William Anderson and Mrs. Bertha Anderson, was killed in the crash of an airplane while in performance of his duty as an aviation mechanic at the Smokey Hill Army Air Base, Salina, Kansas on November 28, 1944.

John entered the air force in June 1942 and took training at Lincoln, Nebr., later attending bombsight and automatic pilot operation and maintenance. He was working as a specialist on B-29 super fortresses at the time of his death.
