Population 900. An incorporated town on the C. & N. W. Ry.,in Scranton township, Greene county, 9 miles w. of Jefferson,
the seat of justice, 110 e. of Council Bluffs, and 71 n. w. of Des Moines.
It contains a public school, Catholic, Christian, Danish Lutheran, Methodist Episcopal
and United Brethren churches, 2 banks and a weekly newspaper, the Scranton Journal.
