In 1900 The Jefferson Bee newspaper published A Directory of Greene County Farmers "containing the Name, Location and Other Statistics Regarding the Farmers of the County. Also Biographies of Two Hundred Well Known Farmer Citizens and Old Settlers." The directory sold for one dollar and comprises one of the best overviews of agriculture in Greene County for the time period. Rural residents were included in township lists which included the amount of land they farmed, the number of people in their family, and other biographical info.
