Telegraphic information was received here this afternoon from Camp
Cody, at Deming, New Mexico, of the death of Private Fred Seitz, a
member of Company A, 169th company of Engineers of Johnson county. The
soldier's death was caused by pneumonia. Seitz was about nineteen years
of age, and until about three years ago, when he went to Iowa City to
live, he had been at the Orphan's home on the Burlington road. Mr.
Reinemund stated this afternoon that Private Seitz had stayed at the
home for more than twelve years, coming there when but a small child,
and remaining until he had reached the age of fifteen, when he went to
Iowa City. His father, E. Mass of Iowa City and a married sister at
that place, survive.
