The remains of Fred Schnare who died on his way to France arrived this
morning at four o'clock from Hoboken accompanied by a fellow soldier,
Mr. Matthews. The funeral will be held at two o'clock from Schneider
Bros. It will be military in nature but in accordance with regulations
will be private with services, conducted by the Rev. Mr. H. L. Searles,
student advisor of the Presbyterian church. Fred Schnare was the oldest
son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schnare of Union township. Interment will be
in Oakland cemetery.

Fred Schnare, '18, Dies at Sea
Another gold star is to be added to Coe's service flag, for the
casualty list published December 6 contains the name of Private Fred
Schnare, ex '18, who died at sea in October. Pvt. Schnare died of
influenza in October, on his way to France. His body was sent back to
Iowa City for burial. He had entered the Coe academy in 1911.
