The letter of which the
following is a copy, tells story of supreme sacrifice: Headquarters
Company, 341st F.A., American E. F., France, September 24, 1918.
To Mrs. Ora I. Johnson, 820 So. Frederick Street, Oelwein,
Iowa.
Dear Mrs. Johnson: I wish to convey to you my deepest
heartfelt sympathy in the death of Corporal William D. Blaisdell, who
was killed in action September 18 while in the performance of his duty.
Corporal Blaisdell was an efficient soldier and his death is keenly
felt by his command and comrades, all of whom held him in the highest
esteem.
