Mrs. J. F. Collier plan [sic] to leave Thursday
for her home in Olympia, Wash. She has been visiting her sister,
Mrs. A. J. Fox.
The near by neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. W. R.
Sperry met at the home of Mrs. A. J. Fox on Tuesday for a 6:30 pot
luck dinner to honor Mr. Sperry's 100th birthday on March 6. This is
the eighth consecutive year Mrs. Fox has feted the Sperrys on his
birthday. There were 20 guests. Those from a distance were Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Sperry of Tucson, Ariz. and Mrs. J. F. Collier of Olympia,
Wash.

March Birthday Club will meet with Mrs. A. J.
Fox on Saturday, March 15, with picnic dinner at 12:15 p.m.
All ladies in Fayette and vicinity whose
birthdays occur in March are cordially invited.

W. R. Sperry Observes 99th Birthday
Two birthday parties in Fayette honored W. R.
Sperry on his 99th birthday.
The first was held last Friday evening in the
home of Mrs. A. J. Fox at which the neighborhood honoring Mrs.
Sperry. His birthday is on the 6th of March. Mrs. Fox reports that
this is the seventh year that the neighborhood has honored Mr.
Sperry thusly.
The second observance was held in Mr. Sperry's
home Sunday. His children and others were among those spending the
day with him. Mr. Sperry born in 1859, is now looking forward
to his 100th birthday next year.

Relatives from a distance who attended the
funeral of Miss Janette Bener were: Mrs. Ray Hall, Mrs. William
Wright and daughter, Connie, Mrs. Sidney Hall, Pueblo, Colo., Mrs.
H. W. Bender and Miss Elizabeth Bender, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth C. Bender, Hopkins, Minn., Miss Gladys Bender, International
Falls, Minn., Leo C. Stone, Mrs. W. H. Antes, Charles Antes and
Reginald Bender, West zunion, Mr. and Mrs. Will Adams, Ralph Adams
and Jack Adams, Waucoma, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Richards, Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Richards, Alpha, and Mrs. Bruce Moser, Guttenberg, Iowa.
Mr. Carlton Baker of Decorah, Iowa accompanied
Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Bender and Miss Gladys Bender to the funeral of
Miss janette Bender. Upon their return home the Benders were dinner
guests in the Baker home. Mr. Baker and Mr. Bender were College
friends and both are graduates Upper Iowa University.
Mrs. A. J. Fox graciously opened her home to
the relatives and friends from a distance who attended the fuenral
of Miss Janette Bender. She was assisted in serving by friends.
Others helping were Mrs. Farley, Miss Meyer, and Miss Anna Wilson.
Miss Marvel Foster, assistant to Miss Elizabeth
Bender in the Community House in Cedar Rapids, accompanied by her
mother and friends, Mrs. Gray adn her sister, all of Cedar Rapids
attended the funeral of Miss Janette Bender.
