MISS PETERSON GETS SCHOLARSHIP
Fellowships at Columbia University have been
awarded to twenty-two graduates of Iowa colleges and universities.
Miss Peterson has been awarded the Lydia C. Roberts fellowship in
home economics.
Among the institutions represented in the
twenty-two awards were Cornell, Grinnell, upper Iowa, Morningside,
Drake University, Penn College, and Simpson, besides the University
of Iowa. Seven of the awards were given to students and alumni of
the University of Iowa. Marguerite V. Peterson, of Dows, at present
director of the department of Home Economics at Upper Iowa, comes
from Simpson College. Robert Lee Fox, a graduate of Upper Iowa last
year, received the Lydia C. Roberts fellowship at that time in
chemistry and has been given it a second time this year. The
qualifications for the award are very high scholastic standing and
strong recommendations in regard to character. The fellowship
includes $850 and transportation both ways. The school will regret
losing Miss Peterson for this period but is glad she has earned the
opportunity and honor.
