DUAL DEBATE WITH LUTHER FRIDAY NIGHT
College Teams Will Discuss Important Question at
the Chapel tomorrow Evening
The first intercollegiate debate of the year
will be held tomorrow from Upper Iowa will debate with Luther
college at Decorah, and one from that place will clash with a U.I.U
team here. The question is, Resolved that the United States should
bease to protect by armed force the capital invested in foreign
lands except after a formal declaration of war.
The affirmative team for U.I.U will go to
Decorah, and consists of Robert Fox, Theron Ashby, and Harold Lynch.
The negative team will be made up of Dwight Anderson, Roger Dooley
and Guy Bennington.
these men were selected in a tryout of men
without experience in debate, which took place Tuesday night. the
same question was used, and the judges were Mrs. Collett, Walter
Hetzel and Prof. Lindenmayer. In the tryout the negative team won.
Ashby, Lynch and Anderson are Freshmen.
In the debate tomorrow night the audience will
render the decision, and it is hoped that there will be a large
attendance as a matter of encouragement to the debaters.
