Well Represented
It was the ECHO's misfortune not to be able to
get to the fair until Friday afternoon, and as a consequence we are
not able to give the list [of] prizes which were garnered by the
people of this vicinity. One of the things we did notice was that
the stock raisers of hereabouts got a goodly share of the premiums.
Among those from near Elgin who had stock entered were: Wenger
Bros, Belgium stallion; Thos. Richards Short Horn bull; H. F.
Robbins, Angus cattle; L. Lehman, Short Horn cattle; Geo. Wander &
Son, Short Horn cattle; L. Hunsberger, Poland China swine; W. L.
Peters, Yorkshire swine; Thos. Lien, Poland China swine; R. W.
Helms, Herford [sic] cattle; Ezra Howard, Coach stallion and driving
team; Frank and Ed Boyle, ponies. There may have been others but if
so we were unable to learn of them. All these exhibitors received
some of the premiums and it was a fine showing of both cattle and
hogs. . .
