CHILDREN~~~~People Near Fayette Take Nine Homeless
Ones and Ask For MoreFayette, May 4. --- The town was full
on Friday of people from the country and as far as Elkader
to see the New York children who arrived that forenoon.
There were five boys and four girls from three to twelve
years old in charge of Miss Comstocel. There were three
sisters, also a brother and sister, also two brothers, all
finding different homes except the brother and sister, who
went the Forest Johnson home near Randalia. The three
sisters found homes all within six miles of each other
east of Lima in the Boland, Hutchinson, and Holtzman
homes. The brothers went near Hawkeye, about three miles
apart, to the W.W. Alley home and another the name of
which we did not learn. A boy goes to the John Langerman
home east of town and a boy to the Frank Patterson home
south of town. All are in homes of well-to-do farmers. The
demand was greater than the supply, as there wee over
fifty applicants, and Miss Comstock has promised to bring
more homeless children. She will remain here till
she visits all of the homes where she has placed children.
