Monday, June 8, 1868
The Board of Supervisors convened in the court room pursuant to adjournment.
N.W. Spears in the chair.

Roll called. Present:—Messers. A. Becker, T.J. Butcher, R. Earle, L.P. Finch, C.B. Gardiner, D.B. Herriman, Chas. Hoyt, H. Hoagland, G.W. McCreery, W.S. Phillips, B.H. Ropes,
R.T. Rogers, J.W. Sidman, A. Spear, L.D. Wellman, John Webb, S.B. Zeigler, and N.W. Spears.

Board met- Roll called. Quorum present.
Minutes of yesterday's proceedings were read and approved.
On motion of R. Earle, a Special Committee consisting of R. Earle, B.H. Hopes, L.D. Wellman, L.P. Finch and W. Taylor, was appointed to examine into and report upon the
expediency of purchasing a silo for a Poor Farm.

R. Earle offered the following:
Resolved: That the Chairman is hereby requested to appoint a Special Committee of three, whose duty it shall be to go to the County Farm, examine the location of said farm, the state of the buildings and report upon the propriety of selling said farm.
On motion adopted.
The-Chair appointed G.A. Appelman, H . Hoagland, and C. B. Gardinier. N.W. Spears was added by vote.
 
WEDNESDAY MORNING,
June 10, 1868:
Board met. Roll called. Quorum present. ...
Minutes of yesterday's proceedings were read and approved.
On motion of R. Earle, a Special Committee consisting of R. Earle, B.H. Hopes, L.D. Wellman, L.P. Finch and W. Taylor, was appointed to examine into and report upon the expediency of purchasing a silo for a Poor Farm.

R. Earle offered the following:

FRIDAY MORNING
June 12, 1868,
Special Committee on Poor Farm made the following report:
To the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Fayette County, Iowa.
June session 1868.

SIRS: Your Committee, appointed to visit Poor Farm, would report that they have visited the Institution and found the building very insecure; being in a dilapidated condition and believe it to be for the interest of this county to dispose of said farm and apply the proceeds towards the purchasing of a more convenient tract of land whereon to erect buildings suitable to accommodate the poor, and be a credit to the county.

Minutes of yesterday's proceedings were read and approved,

Committee on Poor made the following report:
To the Honorable, Board of Supervisors:

The undersigned Committee on County Farm and Poor, respectfully report. That after advertising in the county papers for a Steward for the farm and poor-house, we received proposals from twenty different parties, and believing it for the best interest of the county we selected the proposition of Wm. Moore, with whom we entered into contract. The proposition and contract is herewith submitted. We also submit the schedule of personal property no won the farm and in the house.

On motion, report adopted.

Charles Hoyt offered the following:
Witness: By chapter 95 of the Laws of the I2th General Assembly, Trustees are authorized to provide for the relief of such poor persons in their respective townships as should not in their judgment be sent to the county Poor House to the amount of $2.00 per week for each person so relieved, unless limited in the amount by the Board of Supervisors Be it resolved, that such relief shall not in any case he continued beyond the term of two weeks without the consent of the member of this Board from the township in which such relief is furnished and that the Supervisors inform Trustees of this fact.
