The following is a letter written by C. W. Bangs, Superintendent of Schools, Manchester, Iowa, to verify the age of Miss Jane McCarren.  This letter was on file at the Delaware County Clerks office.

      This is to certify that I have examined the permanent records of the Manchester High School in order to establish the age of Miss Jane McCarren. The records for the first semester of 1892 as of Date January 29, show her age to be 15. The records for her second year as of February3, 1893 show her age to be 16. For the third year as of date January 19, 1894 her age is shown as 17 and for the fourth year as of date January 18, 1895 her age is shown as 18. The graduation date June 10, 1895 also lists her age as 18.
