The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa Davis City is located in the south-central part of Decatur County in the State of Iowa. It is a thriving little city of 800 inhabitants on the C.B. & Q. R.R. and Grand River affords the immediate water supply. New business houses are erected yearly and the business men are a thrifty wide-awake class, who not only watch for their own benefits but for the welfare and comfort of all who chance to make the Park City their home. Davis City boasts of a natural park, where yearly celebrations are held, and where religious meetings convene nearly every August. The little tourist steamer "Yolo" in summer plys between the park and picnic resorts up the stream. The Davis City roller mill is the oldest and most reliable grist and flour mill in southern Iowa. The masses of machinery are driven by the swift running Grand or steam power. The Union Church, a brick edifice, was erected by the Hon. John Clark and is non-sectarian. The Latter Day Saints Chapel is a large frame building where weekly services are held. The surrounding country is valley land noted for its fertility and is unexcelled in the United States. People are daily coming in this little paradise and the sign "Houses to Let" cannot be seen.
