MR. and MRS. J.H. KLING, left Monday for Bloomington, Neb., where they will make their future home, MR. KLING having purchased a large farm adjoining that town. By the removal of MR. KLING, Davis City loses one of her most prominent citizens; one who has done a great deal for the town, always being at the head of every town enterprise. MR. KLING came to Decatur County in l874, locating in Leon, where he studied law, being admitted to the bar in l879. In the spring of l884 he removed to Davis City and engaged in the practice of his profession. He served as Mayor of Davis City for eight terms and was elected Justice of the Peace three times.

MR. and MRS. KLING have a large circle of friends in this county who are sorry to see them leave. We commend them to the good people of Bloomington as desirable additions to their city.

CURTIS BURRELL commenced work for C.E. HALL Monday morning.

COL. PALMER and a flock of candidates left this city Wednesday.

Justice BROWN and IRVAN DE NIO, of Lamoni, were in town Sunday.

MRS. CLARK and son, of Leon, were visiting friends at this place Tuesday.

DR. T.S. DUFF had business in Princeton, Mo., Saturday and Sunday.

The Methodists held their last service in the old Union church last Sunday evening. Tonight they hold prayer meeting in their new home. Next Sunday will begin the week of service preceding the dedication. It has been a hard struggle to get the new house completed, but it is done at last, and is a beautiful structure. All connected with it have just cause for pride in a work well done, from the builders and painters to the building committee, and especially the Pastor, Rev. Rusk, without whose energy and faith nothing would have been done.

ALFRED BURRELL met with an accident Monday while braking upon the main line, which might easily have been fatal. He was on top of his train, which was setting some cars in on a siding, and it struck some unnoticed cars which were standing still. The force of the blow threw him off his feet and between the cars. He went down all in a heap and tore his right hand in an effort to save himself. His left arm caught between the bumpers and this held him up from the rails. He was released by some workmen nearby, but his arm is crushed badly and may be a long time in setting. However, for an unfortunate thing it is very fortunate, in that it was no worse.

B.A. NORMAN is doing some excellent work on the streets and sidewalks of Davis City. He has put the ground around the new church in fine shape, and the southern approach to the bridge, which has been guttered out and very rocky for a long time, is in fine condition now. It pays to have a road master of good taste and judgment.
