Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, October 28, l897 Davis City News: SAM LEACHMAN and family, of Lineville are visiting relatives here this week. MRS. MCMANUS, of Grant City, Mo., is visiting at the home of FRANK FREEMAN this week. Both protracted meetings closed last Sunday night. Two burials at the Bethel Church Monday of this week. Old MR. PETERS and MRS. W. BAKER were buried Monday and a MRS. STEPHENS on Tuesday. We did not learn particulars. MRS. ABE TEALE and family, of Kellerton, visited in town over Sunday. JEFFRIES & SON are having their street scales repaired this week. R.L. GORE begun remodeling one of U.G. GRIFFITH's houses known as the Harrison property. Leon Reporter, Leon, Iow Thursday, October 28, l897 Grand River Valley: School is progressing nicely at the Woodard under the auspicious management of MISS CORA LITTLE. There was a "hop" at the home of IKE WOODARD last Friday night. Those kind of entertainments are getting to be quite frequent in these parts. Corn husking is in full blast in these parts now. MISS BESSIE ELSTON is assisting MRS. S.N. LITTLE at the present with her household duties, as MRS. LITTLE is in quite poor health. WILLIAM BRANNAMAN and best girl visited at WALTER REDMAN's last Sunday. HENRY CREES who so suddenly disappeared from his home a few weeks ago without informing his people as to where he was going, has at last been heard from. He writes to some of his friends that he is well and enjoying life to the fullest extent in Fremont County. We are safe in saying that his parents will be glad to hear this bit of news.
