FRANK WHITE was operated on Friday afternoon at the Sanitarium of Dr. Bertha A. Greer for an Ankeylosed knee caused by an injury received in his childhood. Dr. Layton of Leon was the operating surgeon; he was assisted by Dr. A. Brown of Leon, and Drs. Horner, Wright and the Doctors Greer of Lamoni. Dr. Greenman of Kellerton, was also in attendance as a looker on. The operation is known as a resection of the knee joint, and consisted in taking away the knee cap and cutting a section of the bone above and below the joint away, so as to let the leg straighten, with the idea of growing them together and giving FRANK a straight, but stiff leg. We are told by those present the operation was most skillfully performed, and that FRANK has every prospect of soon being able to get around without the aid of the crutch that he has had to use for so long.
