There will be no spring term taught. MR. EDWIN BEVINS is reported dangerously ill. FRAKES sisters called at the BEVINS and BLACKMAN homes one day last week. MR. ARTHUR PATTERSON made his usual trip to Blockley Sunday. MISS LOLA COX came home from Leon Saturday, where she has been attending school since last fall. She intends to go the spring term at Hard Scrabble. MRS. HARRIS, MRS. HENDERSON, MRS. FRAKES and daughter called on MRS. STUART, Tuesday. She has been confined to her bed for the past seven weeks. Two more of Decatur Co. people have joined heart and hand. MR. CAL CRAVATT being the groom. We have not learned the bride's name. Squire COX officiated. Let the good work go on. MARK HARRIS is at home on a short visit. MR. EVERET DALE was out riding for his health last Sunday. MISS JESSIE FRAKES is assisting MRS. BLACKMAN in her household duties this week. MR. DOOLITTLE has his cistern completed. MR. HAMILTON's baby of Blockley is still on the sick list. MISS CLARA UNDERWOOD expects to work at the BEVIN's home this summer. GEO. FASSET was a passenger to Leon Friday. MISS LAURA SUTHERLIN, who came to Blockley, with MR. BLACKMAN's people, returned to Garden Grove Friday. MR. DAVID MCKUTCHEON broke two pairs of whiffle-trees going to Pleasanton. DAVID being a good natured fellow said he was satisfied that he did not break the third pair. MR. HAMILTON's mother who has been helping nurse their sick babe, has returned to her home in Des Moines. MISSES MAE and BIRD GORE spent an evening last week with MRS. MCKUTCHEON. ARTHUR FRAKES who has spent the past nine months in Hamilton, O. returned home Thursday for a few weeks visit with parents. GLEN DOOLITTLE called on WILL STEWART's hired girl this week. ARTHUR PATTERSON left for Wyoming Tuesday, where he expects to remain for the coming summer. MISS ROSE and JESSIE FRAKES were passengers to Leon Monday. Decatur County Journal Leon, Decatur County, Iowa April 11, 1901 A LITTLE 'CHICKEN' HUMOR. GEO. W. MILLS caught DAVE GATCHELL's chickens trespassing in a neighbor's garden and killed four of them. For this act, DAVE swore out a warrant of arrest and the minions of the law summoned GEORGE before the bar of Lord Chief Justice Woodard's dread tribunal. The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa Thursday, August 22, l90l Yesterday PAUL RADNICH and CHARLIE WHEELER started for Leon with PAUL's team. At the corner by Dr. Wheeler's place the team took fright, the boys went out, and in about ten seconds the team struck Shirley's livery barn, wrecking the buggy, and the horses picked themselves up and ran into the barn. Both boys have badly skinned heads and CHARLIE's clothes looked like he had been arguing with a threshing machine or a buzz saw. It was a very fortunate escape. The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa Thursday, April 25, l90l MISS EVA RHEA came down from Leon Sunday. DR. ST. CLAIR's Lecture last evening was a fine effort, and it is a disgrace to the town that such talent should be greeted by such a small handful of people. On Monday eve. the Rebekahs with their well filled baskets, gave MISS BRADD a surprise supper, at the home of MRS. MUSSER. The evening was spent very pleasantly. WILL HENDERSON and MISS LUCY SPARGUR, of near Pleasanton were married in this city, Saturday, Mayor Hamilton tying the knot. We wish the young people happiness and success. We have already called attention to the fact that the law forbids fishing with nets in Grand River. That fish guardian may come again, and the friendly warning may come too late next time. Monday evening a very pleasant surprise was given MISS HELEN VELENTINE. A number of young people called upon her without previous announcement, and proceeded to make merry.
