Decatur County Journal Leon, Decatur County, Iowa June 07, 1888 ALMOST SIX FEET. The height of Decatur County bluegrass climbs higher and higher. The height attained last week was 50 inches. On Monday of this week, J.M. EILSER, of Grand River brought in a sample that measured 55 inches. The following day L.M. LOURANCE of Morgan Township, sent us a bunch measuring 58 inches. Yesterday NELSON EAVES, of Richland Township, reported with some 57 1/2 inches, while JOSEPH HAMILTON appeared on the scene with bluegrass that measured 6l inches and the end is not yet! This is indeed wonderful, but the proof can be seen at this office and we are proud to be able to show up our county in such a favorable light. Copied by Nancee (McMurtrey) Seifert |
