Located southwest of Dallas Center, approximately 1 1/2 miles, by
the Gift home.
Harry Burkes grandfather bought the old Durke's farm in 1869 and the cemetery was already on the abstract. There is no known date or history to be found. Stones are from 1860 on. Dallas Center was incorporated in 1869, so it was before the town. The Mason's obtained it in 1888 and tended it ever since as the Masonic. Is it the cemetery mentioned in early Dallas Center history? Well cared for and well plotted, very serene. Velma Renfrow, circa 1970s |
