Creighton Paterson Lightner, son of William Lightner, was born at Landisburg, Perry county, Pa. on the 27th day of January 1848. His wife, Kate Virginia Cree, was daughter of John Dunbar Cree. She was born on the old Cree farm near Green Park Perry, Pa, On the 28th day of February 1857. In the year 1874 on the 7th day of May Creight P. Lightner and Kate V. Cree were united in Marriage at Landisburg by Rev, W. L. Jones. To this union there was born the following children. David S. Lightner was born on the 12th day of October 1876. Blanche A. Lighnter was born on the 13th day of November 1879. Ameda M, Lightner was born on
the 4th of September and died on the 15th day of December 1883. Herman R Lightner was born on the 2nd day of April 1885. C.P. Lightner and family moved from Perry County Pa to Polk County Iowa where they lived on a farm in that County for two years. In the year of 1889 they moved from Polk County Iowa to Dallas County Iowa, where they lived Eleven years on a fine 240 acre farm. On the 6th day of December 1889 their son Lewis C. Lightner was born, and in the year of 1900 Mr. Lightner sold his 240 acre farm in Dallas County and bought a fine 320 acres 5 miles northeast of Churdan in Greene County Iowa. They remained on this fine farm for Three
years. Mr. and Mrs. Lightner then moved to Churdan Iowa where Mr Lightner purchased and Interest in the First National Bank of Churdan and in which he still owns. He is also actively engaged in the Live Stock business buying and shipping Cattle and Hogs also horses and is known in all of this part of Iowa as being one the best judges of Cattle or horses as to their weight and quality; Their children are all married and live in various places as follows, David S. Lightner was married to Margaret Simpson in Des Moines Iowa in the year of 1900, to this union there has been born Two Sons, Glen S Lightner who is now 11 years old, and Yates D Lightner who is now 4
years old, David S Lightner lives on a fine 320 farm adjoining the Town of Adaza Greene County Iowa, he is also a Dealer in Live Stock buying Cattle and Hogs whipping as high as 20 car loads a month to the Chicago market.
Blanche A. Lightner married William Day at Grimes, Iowa on the second day of Sept. 1900 and to this Union three children have been born. Lois A. Day July 16th 1901 at Churdan Iowa, Margaret M. Day was born March 14, 1903 at Campbell, Iowa and Harold W. Day was born 20th August 1911 at Huntsville, Mo, Mr. Day is in the Drug business at Huntsville, Mo. Herman R. Lightner married Pearl Gleason at Churdan, Iowa in June 1903 to this union one daughter has been born, Rubie T. Lightner, Herman and family now live on a farm near Welcome Minn where he is engaged in farming; Lewis C Lightner married Enice A. Dudley at Rockwell City Iowa on December 14th 1910 to this union one daughter has been born, and Lewis and his family now are living on his Father farm Northeast of Churdan Iowa.
