LESLIE HUNT KILLED IN ACTION

Monday night the sad news came to N.L. Hunt of Denison that his son had been killed in action in France, October 19th. The message came from Washington, and stated briefly that Ninus Leslie Hunt had died of wounds received in action on that date, the telegram being signed by the adjutant.

Leslie is well remembered by Denison people having been born here on May 23, 1895, and spending most of his youth here. Five years ago was the last he was in Denison, when he went to Denver. Later he went to Los Angeles, then spent a year in El Paso, and later went to Atlantic City and then to New York. At New York he registered and was drafted into the 88th division last August. He was at the time employed in the shipyards at Hog Island. He had tried to enlist when the war started but failed to pass the examination. He was in F. Co., 3500th Inf., A.P.O. 795.

Leslie is survived by his sorrowing father, one brother, Blaine, married and living in San Francisco and one sister, Margaret, at home. Leslie's was the first star on the Denison high school service flag to turn gold. Tho he left here, without graduating, he was bright and aggressive, and letters he has been writing to his father from France show his admirable handwriting and an able expression of thought. We sympathize with Mr. Hunt in his sad loss.
