Joe Waters is quite sick at his Ringwood residence.
Pan American exposition stamps are now in use.  The local post office has received an assortment.
Chief Price of the fire department has his cart in use again after a few weeks in the cart hospital undergoing repairs.
County Superintendent G. U. Gordon is in receipt of a letter from E. L. Mason, formerly principal of the high school here, stating that he had been elected principal for another term at a salary of $2100 a year.
A fire near the Illinois end of the high bridge about noon Sunday took the fire team on a run across the river.  The frame work of the bridge had ignited from some unknow cause causing some small damage.
The seniors of the High school are rehearsing "The Princess," the play which is to be given at the class day exercises.  Popular songs and choruses from the Bergomaster and other operas will be interspersed.
After the Gas Company's new pipers were laid on Third street it was found Monday that there was a wooden sewer beneath, which had nearly rotted away.  The pips had to be relaid in order to give them a good foundation.
Harold Fleming, a small boy living on Eleventh avenue near Sixth street, lost his way Monday and was found near the Ringwood school.  One of the teachers found him crying on the street, took him into the school building and telephone the police.  The family of the child had just reported him lost and went after him directly.

An excellent program was carried out at the Presbyterian church, Friday night.  It was as follows:

The Lyons high bridge is being replanked.
Charles Finch is here from Chicago visiting.
Jerry Holling has returned from a visit to Des Moines.
Gordon Heuple spent Sunday with friends in Cedar Rapids.
Julius Dreesen has returned from Monticello for a short visit.
John Petersen has been down the river on a trip for several days.
Thomas McGrath has resumed the passenger business across the High bridge.
Miss Charlotte Murphy who has been visiting in the city has returned home.
Miss Corah Montague of DeWitt spent Sunday with the family of S. H. Stebbins.
The Clinton High School field meet will be held at the fair grounds this afternoon.
Chas. Fink has returned from Chicago, where he was graduated from a dental school.
The Men's club of the Methodist church will meet at the church parlors Monday evening.
The funeral of the late Mame Simmons was held Monday morning at 9:30 from the late residence followed by services at St. Irenaeus church.
The Woman's Auxilliary of Grace church will meet for the annual election of officers with Mrs. Geo. Leeham on next Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
The Lyons Veteran Firemen's association will meet in annual session Tuesday evening May 7, at 7:30 o'clock at the Lyons city hall.  Election of officers will take place.  A large attendance is requested.
The following delegates were selected at a recent meeting of the vestry of Grace Episcopal church to attend the diocessan convention to be held at Des Moines in June: G. W. Ashton, S. C. Rand, J. E. Dolan and J. F. T. Stamm.

A. W. Berryman of Mt. Vernon is visiting in the city.
Casil Estabrook spent Sunday with friends in Davenport.
Mrs. J. Glatts left last evening for Springfield, Mo., to visit her son.
D. B.Davidson, of the tax ?ferret company was in the city Monday.
Miss Alice Day was the guest of relatives in Davenport over Sunday.
The Wapsipinicon Club will serve luncheon this evening at its annual business meeting.
J. H. Knouse, of Davenport, with Bradstreet's mercantile agency, was in the city Monday.
Miss Mayme O'Connor has returned to her school duties near Charlotte, after an over Sunday visit with relatives and friends here.
