Wartburg College 1894-1935
"Wartburg was built and opened in Clinton in the fall of 1894 and operated there until 1935. It was originally intended as a feeder school for Lutheran seminaries. By 1935, it was co-educational with 200 students. The depression forced the closing of the Clinton facilities and they merged with Wartburg in Waverly. The main building still stands on Glendale Rd." (Clinton Herald 11 Aug 1994.) It was turned into apartments at some point. The building was torn down in 1998.
