Motor Independent School - The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows a school located in Section 7, across the Turkey river and southwest of the village of Motor. A newspaper article about county schools printed in The Clayton County Register, February 18, 1954 gives the following information about this school: "...research through deed and abstract records of the county yields the [following ] information ... the Motor school in section 7, township 92, Read township, is a one-acre lot located in heavy timber about a mile north of Communia and just south of the platted but non-existent village of Motor. It was conveyed by John Boyle on January 28, 1871. This school apparently has always been protected by a natural windbreak. Located on the bluff above the Turkey river, the school is still closely surrounded by virgin timber. The school has not been used for many years, principally because there have not been enough children in the area to keep it open."
