Independent District - Monona - The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located in the town of Monona, Section 14. Note: the town is located in sections 11, 12, 13 & 14.

The board at its last meeting completed the selection of teachers for the ensuing year. The teachers employed are as follows:
Principal- R. H. Sylvester.
Assistant- Winnifred Schmidt.
Grammar- Florence Butler.
Intermediate- Florence Hazelton.
Second Primary- Stella Goodsell.
First Primary- Cora Brandt.

Monona twp. No. 2 - The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located on the boundry of Sections 9 & 10, on the main road between Luana and Monona (a short distance north of what is now Hwy 18) and next to the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul RR track.

Monona twp. No. 3 - Luana - The 1882 Clayton co. History: ... a school was taught in a small building within the village of Luana during the winter of 18854-1885. In 1856 a brick school was located about half a mile west of Luana, that was used for nineteen years before being removed. The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows the school as an Independent District located in the village of Luana, Section 8.

Monona twp. No. 4 - Organized in 1858, this sub-district was located in the SW part of the township. The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located in the eastern part of Section 30, on the boundry of Section 29.

Monona twp. No. 6 - The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located in the eastern part of Section 26, on the boundry with Section 25.

Independent district - Hardin - This district was composed of parts of Monona, in Clayton co. and parts of Post & Franklin twps in Allamakee county. The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located in Allamakee county a short distance north of the Section 6, Clayton county.
